Position Summary:

As a Sous Chef at Seed to Table, you will be at the core of our culinary operations. You’ll lead by example, crafting dishes that not only delight the palate but also tell a story. You’ll mentor our kitchen team, drive innovation, and ensure every plate exceeds expectations. This is a full-time, exempt position, ideal for a culinary artist ready to make their mark.

  • Culinary Leadership: Lead the kitchen with creativity, precision, and passion, ensuring every dish is a masterpiece.

  • Menu Innovation: Collaborate with Executive Chef Michael Ellis (Rocket-Man) to develop exciting, innovative menus.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain the highest standards of quality, consistency, and presentation.
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee kitchen operations to ensure efficiency, productivity, and a seamless guest experience.
  • Ingredient Sourcing: Work with organic and local suppliers to ensure our dishes are made with the finest ingredients.

Qualifications:

  • Proven Experience: Experience as a Sous Chef or Lead Line Cook in a high-energy, fast-paced kitchen.
  • Passion for Culinary Arts: A strong passion for culinary excellence and delivering exceptional guest satisfaction.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership with a focus on mentorship and team development.
  • Creativity & Innovation: Innovative in menu development and presentation.
  • Excellent Communication: Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive under pressure and adapt to changing environments.
  • Bilingual Skills: Proficiency in English; Spanish is a plus.
  • Safety Standards: Non-slip shoes are mandatory for a safe working environment (not provided by the company).
  • Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Reliable Transportation: Must have reliable transportation.

  • Skilled Manipulation: Expertise in both gross and fine motor tasks, ensuring precision in handling knives, tools, and ingredients with accuracy.
  • Visual Acuity: Strong peripheral and near/far visual accuracy for culinary preparation and maintaining quality standards.
  • Auditory Skills: Ability to effectively hear and respond to instructions in a bustling kitchen environment.
  • Strength & Mobility: Capable of handling and moving objects weighing up to 80 pounds.
  • Endurance: Able to stand, walk, and stay on your feet for extended periods while maintaining focus and precision.
  • Flexibility & Agility: Comfortable bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, and moving fluidly in a fast-paced kitchen.
  • Environmental Adaptability: Able to work comfortably in diverse temperature conditions (hot, humid, cold) and tolerate moderate exposure to smoke, steam, dust, and cleaning agents.
  • Allergy Tolerance: Able to handle a wide variety of fresh ingredients without allergic reactions.
  • Elevated Reach: Confident in utilizing step-stools or ladders as needed and capable of reaching below, at, and above waist level to access tools and supplies.
  • Stability & Balance: Maintain physical stability and balance while executing tasks efficiently, even in a fast-paced environment.
