Job Description:

Sous Chef 

The Culinary Department is looking for a Sous Chef responsible for preparing, presenting, and executing all items on the menu. The Sous Chef will manage stock, execution cleaning, opening and closing tasks, and other duties designated by the executive chef.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Direct food preparation and collaborates with the executive chef.
  • Produce high-quality plates, including both design and taste.
  • Oversees and supervises kitchen staff.
  • Assists with menu planning, inventory, and management of supplies.
  • Ensures that food is top quality and that kitchen is in good condition.
  • Check the quality of raw or cooked food products to ensure that standards are met.
  • Determine production schedules and staff requirements necessary to ensure timely delivery of services.
  • Supervise or coordinate activities of cooks or workers engaged in food preparation.
  • Maintain up-to-date recipes, procedures, and plating for all menus, specials, and promotional items.
  • Comply with high cleanliness, safety, and food safety standards throughout the shift.

Minimum Skills and Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in knowledge - of various cooking methods, ingredients, and procedures.
  • Coaching and Developing Others — Identifying the developmental needs of others and coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping others improve their knowledge or skills.
  • Developing and Building Teams — Encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
  • Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work — Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
  • Making Decisions and Solving Problems — Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Training and Teaching Others — Identifying the educational needs of others, developing formal educational or training programs or classes, and teaching or instructing others.
