Job Summary:
The Customer Service Meat Department associate works in meat department and is responsible for serving customers with fresh meat products. Other duties these employees have include unloading deliveries, portioning meat, pricing meat portions, placing products on display, checking product quality, and answering to customer inquiries.
The Customer Service Meat Department associate is responsible for a variety of tasks pertaining to the sale of meat.
Essential Job Functions:
- Providing quality customer service
- Weighing and wrapping customers' orders
- Cut, grind, weigh, price, wrap, and package meat for customers’ exact specifications
- Maintaining a high product knowledge to most effectively facilitate customer orders and respond to queries.
- Occasionally assisting in receiving orders of a necessary quantity
- Unloading and transporting deliveries of fresh meat and poultry
- Pricing and displaying items
- Stock and rotate products in all displays, and ensure that none are past the sell-by date.
- Examining and rotating stock to prevent products from perishing
- Answer questions about products, the source of products, cooking, and preparation of meat, and general store information
- Maintaining and displaying a knowledge of food safety procedures
- Maintaining total sanitation of both the store and its meat products
- Must have basic knowledge of mathematics for weighing meat and processing transactions
- Ability to multitask and stay organized
- Great patience and listening skills
- Wear cutting gloves at all times when operating knives, slicers, or other sharp tools.
- Non-slip shoes are mandatory for a safe working environment (please note that company does not provide).
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Proficiency in English is required; Spanish skills are a plus.
- Non-slip shoes are required for safety (not provided).
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
- Reliable transportation is a must.
Physical Requirements
- Strength: Capable of lifting and moving objects up to 80 pounds with ease.
- Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while maintaining focus.
- Manual Dexterity: Skilled in both fine and gross motor tasks, essential for meat preparation.
- Vision: Peripheral and near/far visual accuracy to ensure quality and safety.
- Hearing: Able to hear and respond effectively to instructions and customer needs.
- Flexibility/Mobility: Able to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and move fluidly in a busy environment.
- Environmental Tolerance: Comfortable working in cooler temperatures and with cleaning agents.
- Allergy Tolerance: Able to handle a variety of fresh ingredients without adverse reactions.
- Step-Stool/Ladder Use: Confidently use step-stools and ladders as needed.
- Physical Balance: Maintain stability while handling tasks with care.
- Communication: Clear and effective in conveying instructions and working with the team.
- Reaching: Capable of reaching below waist, at waist, and overhead to access and manage products and equipment.
