Ford dealer EV E-drive manager
The EV/e-drive manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the dealership's electric vehicle service and maintenance operations. The manager must ensure a best-in-class experience for EV owners, stay current on Ford's EV technologies, and manage a team of EV-certified technicians. This role emphasizes customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and the development of the EV service business.
Key responsibilities
- Service department management: Plan, organize, and control the daily operations of the EV service drive to meet dealership goals and manufacturer requirements.
- Technician supervision: Supervise, mentor, and train EV-certified technicians to ensure high-quality workmanship and adherence to company and manufacturer policies.
- EV service bay optimization: Ensure that dedicated EV service bays, charging stations, and specialized tools are maintained and utilized efficiently.
- Customer relations: Address and resolve customer concerns and issues specific to electric vehicle maintenance and repair. This includes managing customer expectations regarding battery diagnostics, range, and charging.
- Warranty procedures: Ensure proper warranty procedures are followed for all EV repairs, including accurate billing and collection processes.
- Diagnostic proficiency: Be proficient in advanced EV diagnostic tools and software to assist technicians with complex issues.
- Training coordination: Work with Ford representatives to ensure all EV service staff are current on the latest training, certifications, and product information.
- Performance metrics: Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to the EV service department, including customer satisfaction index (CSI), repair times, and profitability.
- Inventory management: Oversee the inventory of EV-specific parts, ensuring necessary components are in stock to minimize customer wait times.
- Marketing support: Collaborate with the dealership's marketing team on initiatives to promote the EV service center and educate customers on the benefits of EV maintenance.
- Safety standards: Enforce safety protocols related to high-voltage systems and battery handling.
Required qualifications
- Proven experience in an automotive service management role, ideally at a Ford dealership.
- Ford EV certification and a deep understanding of electric vehicle technology.
- Demonstrated history of superior customer satisfaction (CSI).
- Experience in expanding service department sales and profitability.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency with dealership management systems (DMS) and manufacturer software.
