Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Body Shop Paint Prepper. This person will clean, sand, blend and otherwise prepare vehicles for painting. Skilled workmanship and a high attention to detail are required to tape, mask and prime customer vehicles. A professional and dependable attitude are required, as is the ability to operate in and maintain a clean, safe shop environment according to Victory's high standards and OSHA regulations.

The ideal candidate has some body shop experience, as well as experience working in a collision repair facility or paint shop. Individuals with Auto Body Vo-Tech certificates or commensurate experience are preferred. He or she has an unrestricted driver's license and a clean driving record and a strong technical and customer service performance record.

Responsibilities

  • Thoroughly review each repair order prior to beginning work on the vehicle
  • Complete all paint preparation processes for vehicle
  • May prime, edge or jam replacement parts
  • Know how to properly sand and prep for paint, new parts, and blend parts
  • Know how to properly sand and featheredge surface for primer
  • Able to properly block panels for refinishing
  • Able to mask and spray the correct amount and coats of primer
  • Able to mask all panels and cover car to minimize tapelines and overspray on vehicle
  • Utilize all required safe equipment and follow proper refinishing procedures in compliance with OSHA guidelines
  • Adheres to all requirements hazardous waste disposal
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace
  • Perform other related duties as assigned including, but not limited to washing cars, cleaning the shop, assisting other teammates, etc.
  • Ensure that all paint operations are complete, all masking is removed, and all prior paint-related disassembly has been reassembled prior to returning the vehicle to the body technician.
Job Requirements:

 

  • Professional and dependable
  • Unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record
  • Experience working in a collision repair or body shop a plus
  • HS diploma or GED. Auto Body Vo-Tech certificate or commensurate experience strongly preferred
  • Effective communication skills required
  • Ability to work in high performance, fast-paced team environment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Quality conscious and detail-oriented
