Job Description:
  • Advanced Diagnosis and Troubleshooting:

    • Perform comprehensive diagnostics on all Ford and Lincoln vehicle systems, including gasoline, diesel, hybrid, and electric powertrains, using advanced Ford proprietary diagnostic tools (e.g., IDS/FDRS, VCMM, VMM) and traditional shop equipment.

    • Analyze complex diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), live data, wiring diagrams, and technical service bulletins (TSBs) to pinpoint root causes of vehicle malfunctions, even for intermittent or unusual issues.

    • Utilize advanced test procedures for engine performance, transmission, electrical, HVAC, suspension, steering, and braking systems.

  • Expert Repair and Maintenance:

    • Execute highly complex repairs across all vehicle systems, including engine overhauls, transmission rebuilds, advanced electrical system repairs, module programming, and high-voltage hybrid/EV system work.

    • Perform all levels of factory-scheduled maintenance and repairs according to Ford Motor Company specifications and warranty guidelines.

    • Ensure all repairs are completed correctly the first time (Fixed Right the First Time - FRFT) to maintain high customer satisfaction and minimize comebacks.

    • Conduct thorough quality control checks and test drives to verify repairs.

  • Technical Resource and Mentorship:

    • Serve as a primary technical resource for other technicians, service advisors, and parts department personnel, offering guidance, training, and support on complex vehicle issues.

    • Mentor and train junior technicians, apprentices, and A-level technicians, helping them develop their diagnostic and repair skills, and understand Ford-specific procedures.

    • Stay abreast of the latest Ford technological advancements, new vehicle models, and repair techniques through continuous Ford factory training (web-based and instructor-led).

  • Documentation and Compliance:

  • Accurately document all diagnostic procedures, repairs performed, parts used, and recommended future services on repair orders and dealership management systems.

  • Ensure strict adherence to all Ford warranty policies and procedures.

  • Comply with all federal, state, and local regulations, including hazardous waste disposal and safety standards.

Job Requirements:

Certifications and Training:

  • Ford Master Technician Certification: This is the most crucial requirement, demonstrating the highest level of expertise across various Ford vehicle systems.

  • Ford Senior Master Technician Certification (Highly Desirable): Represents the pinnacle of Ford training and ongoing commitment.

  • Experience:

  • 5-7+ Years of Automotive Technician Experience: A significant portion of this experience must be specifically with Ford and Lincoln vehicles, ideally within a dealership environment.

  • Proven Diagnostic Track Record: Demonstrated ability to accurately diagnose and resolve complex, challenging vehicle issues.

  • Mastery of Ford Diagnostic Tools: Expert proficiency with Ford-specific diagnostic software (e.g., IDS/FDRS, VCMM, VMM) and diagnostic procedures.

  • Advanced Electrical and Electronic System Expertise: Deep understanding of electrical circuits, module reprogramming, network communication (CAN bus, LIN bus, etc.), and advanced sensor diagnostics.

  • Comprehensive Powertrain Knowledge: In-depth understanding and repair capability for Ford's gasoline, diesel, hybrid, and electric powertrains.
