Job Description:

Phillipsburg Easton Honda is looking for an experienced Automotive Dispatcher who is responsible for coordinating and distributing repair and maintenance work to technicians while maintaining an efficient workflow throughout the service department. This position ensures that vehicles are assigned to the appropriate technician based on skill level, workload, repair type, and shop capacity. The Dispatcher works closely with Service Advisors, Technicians, Parts, and Management to keep repairs moving efficiently and customers informed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Dispatch repair orders to technicians based on technician skill, certifications, workload, and repair complexity.
  • Monitor technician workload and shop capacity throughout the day.
  • Prioritize work according to customer needs, promised times, appointments, vehicle status, and shop priorities.
  • Ensure repairs and maintenance work are routed to the appropriate shop or technician.
  • Review the daily schedule in advance and make adjustments to maximize shop efficiency.
  • Monitor repair orders from write-up through completion and identify delays or potential bottlenecks.
  • Communicate with Service Advisors regarding vehicle status, technician availability, additional repairs, and changes to promised completion times.
  • Coordinate with the Parts Department to ensure technicians have the parts needed to complete repairs.
  • Help identify and properly route specialty repairs, recalls, diagnostic concerns, warranty work, and maintenance services.
  • Monitor technician productivity, efficiency, and workload and communicate concerns to management.
  • Reassign work when necessary due to technician availability, workload, skill requirements, or changes in priority.
  • Follow established shop processes, repair procedures, and manufacturer requirements.
  • Assist with maintaining an organized and productive service drive and shop workflow.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with technicians, advisors, parts personnel, and management.
  • Help resolve scheduling conflicts and operational issues quickly.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure repair orders are properly updated throughout the repair process.
  • Promote teamwork and maintain a positive, professional work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Service Management.

 

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Automotive dealership or repair shop experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive repair and maintenance operations.
  • Understanding of technician skill levels and repair processes.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple repair orders in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with technicians, Service Advisors, Parts, and management.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Computer proficiency and ability to learn dealership/service management software.
  • Ability to make quick decisions while maintaining an efficient workflow.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as an automotive technician, service advisor, shop foreman, dispatcher, or service manager.
  • Reynolds Egnite experince 
  • Experience with dealership DMS/service scheduling systems.
  • Knowledge of manufacturer warranty and recall procedures.
  • Experience managing technician workflow and shop capacity.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work in weather conditions, this position requires you to be indoors and outdoors frequently throughout the day
