AUTOMOTIVE BODY SHOP COLLISION TECHNICIAN

THE POSITION: The Body Shop Technician repairs damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles in accordance with factory and dealership specifications using hand tools and power tools.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience with aluminum body repair and/or ADAS calibration.
  • Familiarity with multiple estimating platforms (CCC ONE, Mitchell, Audatex).
  • OEM training certifications are a plus.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in collision repair.
  • Proficiency with frame racks, MIG welding, spot welders, measuring systems, and repair tools.
  • I-CAR or ASE certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to read and interpret repair orders and OEM procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality-focused mindset.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Must provide own tools.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform all phases of body repair including disassembly, damage analysis, body panel replacement, metal finishing, and reassembly.
  • Assess damage and develop accurate repair plans.
  • Use frame measuring and straightening equipment to bring vehicles within manufacturer specifications.
  • Repair or replace structural and non-structural components using welding and bonding techniques.
  • Ensure high-quality repairs that meet or exceed OEM and insurance standards.
  • Communicate with estimators, painters, and parts department to ensure workflow efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety protocols and OSHA standards.
  • Keep up to date with new repair techniques, vehicle materials, and collision repair technology.
  • Assist in mentoring junior techs or apprentices if required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in collision repair.
